Homemade Soft Pretzels

This recipe has been in the family for years. It came from a nun at my sisters' Sunday school, and it's been a family favorite ever since!


INGREDIENTS 

1 1/2 c. warm water
1 pkg. yeast 
1 tsp. salt
1 TBS. sugar
4 c. flour
1 egg (use for the top of pretzels)

STEP 1: Pour water into medium bowl. Add yeast. Allow to dissolve.
STEP 2: Mix in salt and sugar.

STEP 3: Add the 4 cups flour into the water and yeast.
  STEP 4: Roll into ropes.

STEP 5: Start shaping them into a pretzel.

STEP 6: Whisk egg. Brush on pretzel. Sprinkle with additional salt.

Bake at 425 degrees for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
